A project from last year

I did an embroidery course with Karen Ruane at Contemporary Embroidery last year. We were making a wrap, these are some of the photos of the hankies I embroiderd. They were men’s hankies with a touch of the feminine.

This is the first hankie, some lace, french knots and bullion stitch

My first project

The first project is from my Scandinavian book. An Amager embroidery, traditionally done in black silk and Long-armed cross-stitch. I will be doing mine in dark red but having a go at the traditional stitch.

Putting away the decorations

This swag I made in 2014, it has 3 cross stitch squares and I cut a dressing table runner for the 2 lace panels.

The tree is also down and the room looks a little empty. I will soon fill the room with bits of cotton and thread.

Books for 2015

imageThis book was recommended on Mary Corbet’s web site. It gives the history of Scandinavian embroidery and a few projects.

imageI have seen a few tassels in recent publications and just fancied having a go, so it’s on my to do list !

The last is a magazine from Australia, it is published quarterly. It does what it says on the front gives Inspiration. I don’t always do the complete projects but take bits and add them to my own.
