Category: A quilt for William

William’s quilt

The back of the quilt is done !  I started quilting it with straight line quilting.  Didn’t like it and spent the afternoon picking out those stitches.

Just couldn’t resist this jungle panel, however, lining up back and front and finding a quilting pattern that looks good on both sides is giving me trouble.

Now I’m going to sit and have a cup of tea in the garden, while the sun is out, thinking about how it should be quilted.

Wish me luck!

William’s quilt

Making progress on William’s quilt the top is finished and I’m now thinking about the back.

Wanted to add Williams name and found these paper pieced alphabet blocks  at Marcia’s blog here just needed to enlarge slightly.

Marked the area I wanted green and cut the strips of fabric.

Only had to unpick a couple of times!!  My brain has real problems with paper piecing but I got there in the end.

Now just have to design the rest of the back!!!

Happy stitching and enjoy the bank holiday weekend

A quilt for William

A new project for our grandson, a quilt, he will be two years old in June.

Riley Blake dinosaur fabric for the blocks and 3 plain fabrics for the sashing.

Cut plain fabric into 21/2 inch squares

I had some yellow check fabric in my stash so added that for the corners.

The dinosaur fabric was fussy cut and border added.

This week there should be time to sew on the rest of the sashing. Not sure if there will be a border. That decision can be put off for a few days!

Want to keep this quilt light so thinking of using a polyester batting. Never used polyester before so will need to do some research .

Have a great weekend and happy stitching
